India wins cricket World Cup 2011
India is the cricket world champion for the second time after beating Sri Lanka by six wickets in the World Cup final in Mumbai, India, on Saturday. Mahela Jayawardene made an unbeaten 103 from 88 balls as Sri Lanka posted a competitive total of 274-6. In response, India lost Virender Sehwag to the first ball of the innings and Sachin Tendulkar with the score on 31, but Gautam Gambhir hit 97 and captain MS Dhoni scored an unbeaten 91 from 79 deliveries as India got home with 10 balls to spare. India first won the World Cup in 1983, while this was Sri Lanka's second successive defeat in the final.MUMBAI, INDIA
