India defeated Sri Lanka by six wickets to win the 2011 Cricket World Cup on Saturday in Mumbai.

The victory marked India's first cricket world cup title in 28 years and followed an historic semifinal matchagainst archrival Pakistan. India was also able to avenge its loss to Sri Lanka in the 1996 World Cup.

"It's the ultimate thing and I'm experiencing it," said Indian great Sachin Tendulkar. "I couldn't have asked for anything better. It's the proudest moment of my life."
